At this point, I don’t remember where this four year old photo was taken.
And all the pictures I thought were gonna be super hot turned out awful cause guess what, out of focus.
So, turns out I lied and the previous smorgasbord of photos was attempt two. This was attempt one in which I fell for the first time hiking in years and almost broke my camera, the most disappointing of the hikes, in terms of photo quality at least.
Went for a brief visit home to Hawaii determined to do a hike every day. I was sort of successful: I tried the exact same hike all three days I was there and finally found it on the last day, moments before I had to scoot off to the airport. The hike wasn’t difficult in the slightest, just thankfully obscure. This is attempt one:
Just a few pictures I took through the binoculars while at sea. Slightly surprised at how many we saw in the middle of the Pacific. When we hit Mexican waters, the night watches were lively with avoiding countless dots on the radar. One of these, encountered much nearer to shore off Lazaro Cardenas was so close that the Captain and I were both just staring off the starboard bow trying to figure out if we needed to reverse course in a hurry when we heard a whistle off to the side. Turns out we were about 25 feet away from running over a local fisherman’s net, which would have destroyed the prop, and that the ship was at anchor. Doh.
