Everything

Is good. And nothing is evil.
This is obviously false while being perfectly true. Evil is the misapplication of good. Vanity for instance is often seen as an evil, but it is perfectly natural that if you love all men you would care what they thought of you. If you don’t despise mankind then you don’t despise their opinions of you either. Vainity becomes an evil when, as with anything else, it overcomes us. The evil that cast Satan as a star from heaven was the desire to be as God. That is to say, he did not know his place. All the evils we inflict upon ourselves are of this nature. A gear is in the wrong spot and the whole machine breaks down.
